Well since closing signups we have become a much quieter pod, donations are pretty quiet also, so its a chance once again to trim the pods server needs and move to a single large dedicated server. New datacentre, New host, the old one is very cost effective, but when things go wrong they are slow to get resolution, the servers are now also old and out of date. So new one is up, the specs are 8 core Intel, with 32 gigs of ram, 1 tb drive. Should be more than enough for the pod.
I have things setup and will plan the move this Sunday Feb 2nd 2014 at 7am-noon PDT. Will update here and twitter @diasporg as the day progresses but plan for a large downtime as I want to get a lot of things cleaned up from the initial install back, way back and I still have the old config files hacked together with the new, time to make it all pretty again!
Also support sites will move to a VPS with this host, dia.so and b.diasp.org and anything else that supports the pod, but I will do that after the pod is back up and there should be no downtime.
UPDATE: Well this took almost 12 hours of me working on it to get up moved over and find all the issues and get them fixed (not in the main code, server and my changes). The images from the last few years are still moving over, so you might see some broken image links, I think its got 5-6 more hours to get moved over. Server needs a reboot still but I do not want to interrupt the image transfer on the back end. I am done for today my eyeballs are shot!
